Grocery Giveaway
Since it launched in September of 2019, the GNV Bridge Food Pantry has served between 500-800 individuals a month, addressing a serious need in our community. To continue to operate, the pantry needs volunteers and your financial support. To become a volunteer, contact Food Pantry director Amy Raburn.
Donating is also easy. You can visit our donation site and set up a monthly gift. All donations go through the GNV Bridge.. Just select ‘food bank’ in the drop down menu on the donation page. Click here to make a donation now.
How it works
We are here to help. To make everyone’s experience the best, here are our rules.
Our Grocery Giveaways are from 10am until food runs out, in which case we would close early.
Clients can arrive around 9am and form a car line. Many choose to arrive earlier. The gates will open between 8-9am. Everyone must pull around to the back of the line upon arrival. If you are having car trouble please let a volunteer know so we can help you park in an appropriate area. Scooters are considered cars and must be in line. If it is too hot to be in your car, join the line and park your car there. You may then walk up to a shaded area or inside the building. We will ask everyone to return to their cars when the line is ready to move. Restrooms are in the building. If you need assistance getting from your car to the restroom, please let us know. We can direct you to move your car closer to the entrance and a paved accessible area.
No parking inside Lincoln Estates and walking. To be a walk up clients, you must live in Lincoln Estates or have arrived on the bus.
All clients and volunteers will receive the same groceries. Number in family does not change the amount of groceries given. It is based on households alone. Each household must be fully financially separate from one another, otherwise, it is considered one hous
An individual from the family must be present, you are not able to pick up for someone who isn’t present. Only 2 families per car, no more will be placed in any vehicle.
We don’t do any deliveries at this time.
All walk-ups must sign in and wait for their turn in the area in front of the building. Some cars will go before walk up clients. When the cars are called forward and when and how many walk up clients are called to line is at the head volunteers discretion. We do our best to be fair and consider how long clients have been waiting.
We unload the truck as fast as we can, but there may be a delay in start time if there is a lot of product or if there are fewer volunteers that week. Thank you for your patients.
UF Health Street will also be at giveaways providing free health screenings on these dates: TBA
We look forward to seeing you!
